Local residents are seen commuting under the rain in Chengdu, China's Sichuan province on Monday, Sept. 4, 2006. A wave of cold air from the north arrived in Chengdu and the central part of Sichuan basin on Monday bringing rain, possibly signaling an end to more than three months of drought. The area has been struck by the worst drought to strike parts of China's southwest in 50 years which badly damaged crops and cost more than 8.9 billion yuan (US$1.1 billion; euro900 million) in economic losses.
